Funeral Services For G.F. Hancock Are Held Tuesday
Funeral services for George Franklin Hancock, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist church. Rev. James Weston, pastor, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Elson Hargrove, local Methodist pastor.
Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were six of his grandsons: Dwayne, Billie and Tommy Wood, Gene Hancock, Leon Klusmeyer and George Hancock.
Hancock, a resident of Carnegie since 1945, died early Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Caroline Davis, with whom he had made his home since the death of his wife in 1960. He had been bedfast about four years.
He was born August 28, 1877, at Corsicana, Texas, and was married to Lillie Mae Bilyeu April 20, 1906, at Lawton. They made their home in Caddo county for 55 years, living in the Eakly, Fort Cobb and Carnegie communities.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving him are seven sons, Orville of Monahan, Texas, Ben and Hubert of Garland, Texas, Virgil, Torrance, Calif., Randall of Clinton, and Calvin and Ermel of Carnegie; five daughters, Mrs. Lectra Forman, Taloga, Mrs. Kathryn Hoover, Torrance, Mrs. Elna Klusmeyer, Mrs. Wilma Wood and Mrs. Caroline Davis, Carnegie; 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Hancock, Dennison, Texas, and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Wooten, Lawton, and Mrs. Fred Paine, Bovina, Texas.
