On 25 Oct 1893 he married Emma Rilla YOUNG in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas. They had 11 children in 19 years; Ola L (1894-1984); Flora Etta (1897-1983). His father,John Marion passed away in 1901 on the Green Family Farm and is buried in the Green Family Cemetery. Sometime around 1920, his mother, Mary Jane, went to live in Brownfield, Texas with his brother, Jim and his family. Mary Jane ALFORD Green passed away on 8 Oct 1921 and is remembered fondly by the community in her obituary written in the local newspaper there. Willie Green, passed away on 29 Oct 1939 on the Green Family Farm. The cause of death listed on his death certificate is "suicide by gunshot." In a story passed down from the Green family, Grandpa Willie told his grandson, Dee Rufus Jr to go and check on the chickens in the chicken coop. When Dee went around the corner of the house, he heard a shotgun go off. He ran back around to the front of the house where he found his Grandpa Willie dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Some members of the family say he had been bitten by a black widow spider some time before this and that the sickness from the infection had made him "mad." We may never know. We do know that he left behind a long legacy of the Green family. He is buried on the Green Family Cemetery. His wife, Emma Rilla Young Green, passed away on 17 Sept 1950 in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas. She was buried next to her husband.
