John Marion GREEN was born on April 8, 1851, in Myrtle Springs in Van Zandt County, Texas. His father, James "Jim" was 28, and his mother, Sarah KITCHELL, was 27 years old. John Marion GREEN was the youngest child of this union and already had 3 older siblings when he was born. Sometime in late 1846/early 1847, James moved his family, then his wife and oldest son, William from Arkansas to Texas. They made an arduous journey by family caravan in covered wagons pulled by two horses each, crossing the Red River into Texas. The Green family moved across Texas staying in Bastrop County, Milam County, Gonzales County; and around 1884 to Williamson County near Georgetown.


JM GREEN and his wife, Mary ALFORD Green had 9 children in 14 years; James Calvin "Jim" (1870); LeNora "Nora" (1872); and Callie A (1874.) William Calvin "Willie" (1875); John Ann "Johnnie" (1876); George W (1878) who only lived to be 3 years old; Twin Girls...Mary Ann "Candy" & Sarah Ann "Pinkie" (1881) Sarah Ann only lived to be 2 when she passed away; and Adella "Della" (1884.)

John Marion passed away on October 30, 1901, in Georgetown, Texas on the Green Family Farm just as his father in the same year. He was only 50. He is buried in the Green Family Cemetery next to his parents, and brother.His wife, Mary Jane Alford Green is buried in Brownfield where she went to live with her son late in life.
