Mrs. Janie Akers

Mrs Janie Akers, 95, of Banner, died Tuesday, May 24, at the home of her daughter. Borne March 25, 1888. She was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Dingus and Amanda Patton Dingus. her husband was the late T.B.(Jim Bob) Akers an attorney, who preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of the United Baptist Church.

Surviving her are one son, David R Akers of Banner, six daughters, Marie A Kirby of Columbia S.C. Malta A. Howell of Price, Novella Compton of Betsy Lane, Kay Akers of Prestonsburg, Toda Tackett of Banner and Emodel Boyd of Dana. Fifteen grand children and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday May 27 in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home by the Rev. Walter Akers, Francis Akers and Dennis Kidd. Burial was made in the John D Boyd Cemetery at Dana.

Nancy Jane Dingus also went by the name of Janie. She was born on 25 March 1888 at Floyd County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Charles Wesley Dingus and Amanda Patton. Her married name was Akers. Nancy Jane Dingus married Tucumseh Berry Akers, son of William H. Akers and Mary Melissa Tipton. Nancy Jane Dingus appeared on the census of 5 May 1910 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Nancy J. age 22 married 4 years with 2 children, both still living, living in home of husband. She appeared on the census of 20 January 1920 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Janie age 30 living in home of husband. She appeared on the census of 22 April 1930 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Janie age 40 married at age 19, living in home of husband. She died on 24 May 1983 at Floyd County, Kentucky, at age 95. She was buried at John D. Boyd Cemetery, Dana, Floyd County, Kentucky.
