Nelson H. House, son of Augustus W. House, and his wife Ellen, built a cottage on
Round Lake, which is located on the south side of M-59 east of it's intersection with US 23 near Hartland, Michigan. This lake is not visible from the highway and must be reached by driving through Frank Vescellius yard. Mrs. Vescellius provided this information because she had been good friends with Nelson and Ellen. Before Nelson died he sold the cottage and 20 acres on the south side of M-59. One of his children owned a cottage on Round Lake at the time of this interview with Mrs. Frank Vescellius in 1969. [Source: The House Genealogy Book]
From the Livingston County Press 1943/44. Howell, Michigan [Note from Carol Hermann: the years referenced for the newspaper date are likely incorrect as Nelson & Ellen married in 1897 and would have celebrated a golden wedding anniversary in 1947]:
Mr. & Mrs. Nelson H. House celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary recently with a family dinner at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Barbara McFarland. The couple were married in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Mr. House was born in Hartland, Michigan and Mrs. House is a native of Ontario, Canada. Mr. House works at the Consumer Paper Co. Detroit, Michigan. They lived at 1240 Dickerson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan. Besides Mrs. McFarland, they have three other children living. They also have fourteen grandchildren.
