The youngest of 10 children. Grandfather John is also known as Peter. His wife Nellie had 8 children. Grandmother and Grandfather were married April 26, 1906 in Brandon Minnesota.
Funeral services for John P. Stuberg were held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. from the Chippewa Lutheran church, Brandon. Rev. C. Storley officiated. Pallbearers were Hans Helgeson, Ted Scherrer, Carl Scherrer, Roy Strom, Martin Thorson and Meyer Skrove. Interment was made in the Chippewa Lutheran cemetery.
John Peter Stuberg was born May 24, 1876 in Brandon township, the son of Peter and Anna Marta Stuberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew to manhood in that community. On April 19, 1906 he was united in marriage to Nellie C. Arntson at Alexandria. Mr. and Mrs. Stuberg farmed on the home place in Brandon township for six years after which they moved to Brandon. Here he was engaged in the drayline business and also maintained the ice house. He was a member of the Brandon Fire department.
Mr. Stuberg had been a patient in the St. Luke's Hospital in Alexandria since September 8th. He underwent surgery Nov. 1st from which he seemed to be recovering. Complications due to a stroke, Nov. 11th, developed causing his death on Tuesday evening, Nov. 15th, being at the time of his death, 70 years, 5 months and 22 days.
He is survived by his four sons and four daughters: (Alice) of Alexandria; Edwin, Noble, Clifford of Muskegon, Mich.; Mrs. Forrest Sweet (Marion) Adrian, Mich.; Earl, Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio; Mrs. Alfred Walstad (Nora) of Garfield and Mrs. Robert Berggren (Audrey) Grand Rapids, Mich.
His wife passed away January 1941. His parents, brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. He has a number of grandchildren and six great grandchildren who survive him.
