Johnye Ruth Hatchett Alexander, age 86 of Owens Cross Roads, AL died on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, AL.
She was born Monday, June 9, 1924 in Swain, AL; the daughter of the late J.N. Hatchett and Mary Ann Fanning Hatchett. She was a cosmetician for Merle Norman Cosmetics for ten years, working in Huntsville, AL, Tullahoma, TN and Winchester, TN. She belonged to several organizations in Huntsville and Winchester.
She was also employed by Blue Front Drugs and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church of the Big Cove Community, Owens Cross Roads, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Webb, her husband, John W. Alexander, her brother, Fred Hatchett and her sisters, Jessie Robertson, Sue Cowan and Sarah Matthews.
Surviving are sons, Howard Mickey (Deborah) Drake of Brownsboro, AL and Gary Lynn Drake of Dutton, AL., eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, step-sons, Johnny Alexander of Plano, TX, Terry Alexander of Huntsville, AL, and Bob Alexander of Huntsville, AL, several step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev Mike Robertson and the Rev. James Ed Collins officiating.
Interment will be in Clay Cemetery, Princeton, AL.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester, TN.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Clay Cemetery Fund.
