Mr. Elmer Johnson Shelton Jr., 64, who resided at 10804 Bethel Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. He was the husband of Mrs. D. Pauline Fauble Shelton.
Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Elmer J. and Mary M. Sier Shelton, Sr.
Mr. Shelton, for a number of years, had been employed as a bricklayer and, prior to his retirement, had been employed as a salesman with S&W Motors Inc. For a number of years, Mr. Shelton had been very active with the National Little League in Frederick during the '50s. He was a member of the Maranatha Church of God, and, for several years, he and Mrs. Shelton had traveled with the Rev. Arnold Gooden with his evangelistic services. He was a member of the DAV and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are three sons, John S. Biehl [sic, stepson], Larry J. Shelton and David A. Shelton, all of Frederick; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley A. Geisler, Urbana, and Mrs. Karen L. Wolfe, Frederick; five sisters, Mrs. Beaulah Tourtellotte, Mrs. Pauline Solt and Mrs. Betty K. Hull, all of Frederick, Mrs. Georgianna Routzahn of Jefferson, and Mrs. Geraldine Burdge of Van Wert, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A daughter, Miss Diana C. Shelton, predeceased her father.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Smith, Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. On Friday, Jan. 31, Mr. Shelton will be taken to the Maranatha Church of God, 1440 Taney Avenue, at 10 a.m. to repose until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerry A. Price, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Michael W. Mangold, pastor of the Apostolic Light House Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
