Mr. E.C. Raburn, 81, of Ideal, Georgia passed away Monday night, January 2,2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5, 2006 at Little Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Ideal at 3:00 P.M. Entombment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Streetman, Rev. Sidney Clay and Rev. Clarence Keene will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, January 4, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Watson Mathews Funeral Home.


Born on July 6, 1924 in Macon County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Ernest Clyde Raburn, Sr. and Gray Blair Raburn. Mr. Raburn was a member of the Little Bethel Church, a retired farmer and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Chapman Raburn.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Raburn of Ideal, daughter, Margie Hortman of Butler; two grandchildren, Cliff Hortman and Brad Hortman,both of Ideal. Two great grandchildren, B.J. Hortman and Lacy Hortman, both of Butler; for step-children, Eddie ( Carroll) English of Jacksonville, Florida; Margie (Randy)Boyd, Aiken, South Carolina, Mark(Lauri) English, Forsyth and Joy Maffett,of Montezuma,Georgia and eight step-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Joyce Liggin, Memorial Chair, 129 South Dooly Street, Montezuma, Georgia, 31063 or to a charity of your choice.

Watson Mathews Funeral Home, Montezuma, Georgia has charge of funeral arrangements.

He married first Frances Julia Chapman, the daughter of James Chapman and Jennie Guerry Chapman. After her death he married Marjorie Elizabeth "Polly" Brooks, daughter of Thomas Brooks and Eva Brewer Brooks.
