Mrs. Robert Witten, who died at Eldon Tuesday, February 27, was buried at Spring Garden the following Thursday. Rev. W.H. Scott of Eldon conducting the service.


Mrs. Witten was Miss Rebecca J. Wall(s) before her marriage. She was born at St. Joseph March 8, 1854, being 73 years old. Her parents moved back to Miller County when she was a child and she was united in marriage to Robert Witten March 20, 1871. To this union eleven children were born. The children now living are Mrs. A. Simpson, Mrs. Lulu Turner, Elgan, James and Robert Jr. of Eldon, Lansford of Cave, Ark., George of Hannibal, Edgar of St. Clair and Mrs. Frank Bell of Kansas City. She also leaves three sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Maggie Mullies of Pleasanton, Kan., Mrs. Eliza Albertson of California, Mo., Mrs. Joseph Williams of Eugene, Samuel Wall of Norwood and Edward Vaughan of Indiana. One sister, Mrs. Lucinda Melton, preceded her in death some 25 years ago. Her husband has been dead about 15 years.


All the children were at her bedside at the time of her death except two sons, Lansford and George.


She was united with the Church of Christ 55 years ago, living a Christian life until the end came. Funeral services were held at Spring Garden by Rev. W.H. Scott of Eldon and burial was in the Spring Garden Cemetery.
