Mr. James Lawton Bennett, Jr., 90, of Mershon, passed away Tuesday morning (June 15, 2010) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 18, 1920 in Pierce County, Mr. Bennett had lived here most of his life. He was a farmer and was also a US Army veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of Mershon Methodist Church but had regularly attended Mershon Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett was a son of the late James Lawton, Sr. & Mamie James Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Crump Bennett; two sisters, DeAlva Roberts and Adeline Meeker and two brothers, Dorsey Bennett and Newell Bennett.

Visitation:
Visitation for Mr. Bennett will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Service:
Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held Thursday morning, June 17, 2010, at 11:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Ramah Cemetery.
