Age 68, son of the late Franklin Clay and Mabel Travis Dinger. He was a longtime resident of Erie. Mr. Dinger was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps and the Merchant Marine. He was also a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. He attended Punxsutawney High School and Erie Vo Tech; was a brakeman and conductor for Conrail for 40 years, retiring in 1986; was a member of Cascade United Methodist Church, Perry Lodge 392 F&AM, National Rifle Association, and Conrail Federal Credit Union; and he was a 32nd degree member of Valley of Erie, Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dinger, and a sister, Esther Craft.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Ball Dinger; a son, David Harold Dinger of Moravia, N.Y.; two sisters, Alma Conley and Helen Steer, both of Erie; a brother, Charles Dinger of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
