Robert Alberty 32, successful "Democratic nomiee for Adair County Sheriff in last Tuesdays primary election who was killed in a gun battle with Sheriff Chester Crittenden, was buried Friday in the Alberty Chapel cemetery near Westville.
Service was held in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel at Westville, with Rev. Devoe Whitely, Pastor of the Summers Baptist Church, assister by Rev. O. Troy Thomas Pastor of the Methodist church in Westville.
Alberty was born December 26, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Alberty. He married Opal Laften on November 13, 1947, and to the union were born two sons, Robert Cleveland and James Ronald.
Prior to returning to Adair county to enter the Democratic primary campaign , Alberty served as a prison guard at the Oklahoma State Penetentiary. He also previously served as under sheriff of Adair County.
Other survivors, besides his parents, wife and children, include five sisters, Ruth of Los Angeles, Calif, Maudie of Tulsa, Dorothy of New York City, Gail of Nogales, Ariz., and Jane of Westville; and a brother, Russel Alberty of Haskell.
Active pallbearers at the Friday service were Junior Carson, Gus Keeter, Tom Keeter, Kenneth Morris Alton Girdner and Earl Welchel.
Honorary pallbearers were Isom Wright, Charley Smith, W. C. Bost, Zeke Adair, Dean Fowler, Joe Roorke, E. A. Lancaster, Frank Groomes, Hurshel Worley, Jim Pennington and Cecil Collins.
Flower bearers were Evelyn Morris, Betty Keeter, Ruth Akin, Sue Hart, Mary Cabe and Pansy Evans.BOB ALBERTY

Funeral service for Bob Alberty, who died Tuesday, July 3, was held Friday afternoon at three o'clock in Roberts Chapel, with the Rev. Devoe Whiteley, pastor of the Summers, Ark., Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. O. Troy Thomas, pastor of the Westville Methodist church, officiating.
With Mrs. Robert Effenberger at the piano, Mrs. George Murray and Mrs. Ed Carmichael sang, Mansion Over The Hilltop, Lead Kindly Light, and The Lord's Prayer.
Mr. Alberty the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Alberty, was born December 21, 1923 at Westville.
On November 13, 1947 he and Miss Opal Lofton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lofton of Summers were married. To this union two children, Robert Cleveland and James Ronald were born.
Active pallbearers at the Friday service were Junior Carson, Gus Keeter, Tom Keeter, Kenneth Morris, Alton Girdner and Earl Welchel.
Honorary pallbearers were Isom Wright, Charley Smith, W. C. Bost, Zeke Adair, Dean Fowler, Joe Roork, E.A. Lancaster, Frank Groomes, Hurschel Worley, Jim Pennington and Cecil Collins.
