RITES HELD TODAY FOR MRS. NELSON
Widow Of Prominent Baptist Minister Laid To Rest At Nelson's Chapel
SUFFERED FALL RECENTLY
At Nelson's Chapel this morning scores of friends and relatives of Mrs. Minerva Coffey Nelson gathered to pay final respects to a woman they loved and admired.
Mrs. Nelson passed away Wednesday morning following a brief illness which occurred after her fall a week ago in which sustained a fractured knee. Advanced age--she was 89 and heart failure combined to hasten her death in a local hospital.
Few people in upper Caldwell were more prominently connected than was Mrs. Nelson, widow of the late Rev. John H. Nelson, beloved Baptist minister. She was a member of one of the county's outstanding families, having been born in Mulberry township. Since the death many years ago of her husband, Mrs. Nelson had lived at Patterson with a daughter, Miss Mary Nelson.
Surviving the aged woman are a number of children, including Robert, George, Milton, Rufus Nelson and Miss Mary Nelson of this county, Tom Nelson of Montana and others. F.P. Coffey of Lenoir is a brother of the deceased, and Mrs. Richmond Moore of Rufus is a sister.
