The following is a short sketch of the ancestry and connections of this venerable citizen of Mulberry, as furnished by himself: He was born May, 14, 1807, and is a grandson of Jesse Boone, one of the first settlers of Mulberry, who came while the Indians were here. He is also a nephew of the celebrated Daniel Boone, the old Kentucky hero. On his father's side he is a grandson of Thomas Coffey, who, coming from Virginia settled on the Yadkin.
He was married in 1832 to Miss Virginia Cottrell, daughter of William Cottrell of Buffalo Cove. He raised a family of five sons and three daughters, five of whom survive.
