Mrs I.J. Sims died Friday night, Sept 12,1902 at 11:20pm after a ten weeks illness, of cancer of the stomach. She bore her suffering well and died with a strong faith in her blessed master. No better woman ever lived in our vicinity
than Mrs Sims. She loved her friends and was ever ready to lend her aid in time of need. In the sick room she was always there to speak a word of comfort to those in trouble. The writer often visited the home of the deceased and has
spent many a pleasant hour arround her fire circle. She will be missed because she was loved - loved because she was more than mother, neighbor, or friend. This home like many others is gloomed with sadness - without a father or mother. Mrs. Sims was born March 6, 1851, and was 51 years, 6 months, and 6 days of age at the time of her death. She leaves three children - Mrs Joe Considine, Mrs Charles Brown and Garland Sims - and two sisters and many friends to mourn her death. The funeral was conducted at her residence Sunday afternoon by Rev. Wm Jesse, after which her remains were laid to rest in its last resting place in the Mexico cemetery beside her husband, who died 21 months ago.∼Mexico Weekly Ledger
