Minnie was the daughter of John William Zentmeyer and Alberta Alice Viar. Alberta died on 5 July 1887 in Floyd Virginia.

In 1900 Minnie and her siblings were living with Minnie's grandparents, Isaac Viar and Martha Jane Bradshaw. The 1900 federal census for Floyd, Virginia indicates that Minnie was born in March of 1883 in Virginia and her parents were born in Virginia. Jennie Zentmeyer and Callohill Zentmeyer are also listed in the census as grandchildren of Isaac and Martha.

Minnie Zentmeyer first married Birt Hake. After Birt's death Minnie married Floyd Bennett.

The 1910 federal census for Floyd, Virginia, lists Minnie as living with her grandfather Isaac Viar. Callohill is listed as Callie and his employment is listed as a public school teacher.

In 1930 Minnie and Floyd Bennett were living in Lamar, Colorado, with Floyd's children. Floyd was a farmer.

In 1940 Minnie is living in Colorado Springs, Colorado with Floyd Bennett, and Floyd's son Donald David Bennett. Floyd is employed by the Santa Fe Railroad.
