LLOYD MELVIN "MEL" LOCKHART, 77
GLENMOOR - Lloyd Melvin "Mel" Lockhart, 77, of Cannon Mills Road died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born in Newell July 16, 1927, son of the late Lloyd L. and Ruth Eddy Lockhart, he was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1945.

A lifelong resident of the area, he served with the U.S. Navy in San Francisco during World War II.

Retired from M & M Vending, where he worked for 30 years, he previously had been employed by Homer Laughlin China Co.

A member of the Old Timers Baseball Organization, he had helped to build and was a major contributor to the Old Timers Baseball Complex, where he volunteered many hours.

Also a member of American Legion Post 736, he enjoyed golf and often could be found at Beaver Meadows Golf Course.

His wife, Lucille Smith Lockhart, whom he married March 4, 1950, survives at home.

Four sons, David Lockhart and his wife, JoAnn, of Tacoma, Wash., Michael Lockhart and his wife, Letha, of East Liverpool, Steve Lockhart of East Liverpool, and John Lockhart and his wife, Lisa, of Tampa, Fla., survive.

There are five grandchildren, Cassie Ice and Joshua, Justin, Kyle and Jordan Lockhart.

A sister, Mildred Duck of Wellsville, also survives.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul E. Lockhart, who died in 1953, and Ralph E. "Bugs" Lockhart, who died in 2001.

Friends may call Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following burial, family and friends will gather in fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
