George Wilbur Dies; Services Set Wednesday
George J. Wilbur, 79, Salem resident for 48 years, died in his sleep early Friday at the residence, 1770 Broadway St.
He had been a Salem painting contractor for nearly 30 years until his retirement about seven years ago. Previously he had worked as a carpenter and in a feed and seed store in Salem.
Wilbur was born July 27, 1872, at Ionia, Mich. In 1901 he moved toWashington and then to Salem in 1903.
He suffered a stroke last June but had been in apparent good health at the time of his death.
Survivors include the widow Mrs. Anna Wilbur, Salem; daughter, Mrs. Jessie Thomas of Salem; sons, Mark Wilbur and Donald Wilbur, both Salem, Karn Wilbur, Newport, Frank Wilbur, Boise, Idaho, and Philip Wilbur, San Diego, Calif.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Howell-Edwards chapel with the Rev. Ray Worthington officiating. Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial park.
