Ernest Buth, 73, Moorhead, Minn., formerly Wolverton, Minn., died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Moorhead. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Grace Lutheran Church, Breckenridge, Minn., with Pastor Ernest Barters officiating. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wolverton.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Ernest was born Sept. 20, 1923, to William and Emma (Ruediger) Buth in Mitchell Township near Wolverton. He attended the rural school near his home and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Mitchell Township. After his schooling, Ernest worked on the home farm.

He entered the United States Army on Jan. 25, 1945. He served during WWII and was in the 338 Depot Co. in the Phillippines. He was discharged from the service on Dec.
12,1946. Ernest returned home and began farming on his own.

Ernest was united in marriage to Audrey Krueger on Nov. 30,1955, at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm in Mitchell Township. Ernest retired
in 1985 and they moved to Wahpeton, N.D., and spent time at their lake home near Pelican Rapids, MN.

When his health failed, Ernest moved to Eventide Lutheran
Home in Moorhead. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Kent Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting and playing cards. His love
for farming continued throughout his life. He treasured time with his family.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Audrey, two daughters, Amy and Myron Axtman, Dickinson, N.D., and their children, Nicholas and Jason, and Connie and Jeffrey Schoenack, Moorhead, and their daughter, Amanda; two sons, Dr. Kelly and Brenda Buth, Bullhead City, Ariz., and their daughter, Nicole, and Timothy and Melanie Buth, rural Wolverton, and their daughter, Miranda; two brothers, Louis (Eileen) Buth, Pelican Rapids, and Victor (Thelma) Buth, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and two sisters, Alice (Melvin) Anderson, Wolverton, and Beatrice (Robert) Sprenger, Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Buth, and a brother, Arnold.
