Joseph H. Vavrusa

Joseph H. Vavrusa, of Hallettsville, died Saturday, August 6, 1983, in a Victoria hospital. He was born April 7, 1919, in Lavaca County to the late Anton and Frances Bartosh Vavrusa. He married Faye Marie Robinson on May 26, 1951, in Liberty County.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Hallettsville, a veteran of World War II and a retired oilfield worker.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 8, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Celestino Say officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A rosary was recited Sunday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Kubena Funeral Home, and Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
The body lay in state at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Monday.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Faye Vavrusa of Hallettsville; three daughters, Mrs. Alva McDonald, Mrs. Karen Zavesky and Mrs. Patricia Honish, all of Hallettsville; two sons, Gary of Victoria and Mark of Hallettsville; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Strack of Louise and Mrs. Mary Filla and Mrs. Annie Vasek, all of Hallettsville; and six grandchildren.
