OBITUARY, Sunday Morning Observer,Sept. 23, 1917, P. 4, Col. 6&7.
William J Broadhurst--89, well known Civil War veteran and highly respected citizen of this city, died Sept. 16, at his home on upper Fourth street. Death was due to infirmities due to old age. Mr. Broadhurst was born Bedford, NY, March 10, 1828. He had been a resident of this city the greater part of his life and when health permitted had been an active member of Buell Post G.A.R. and also Odd Fellows Lodge, being a member of Lodge 115 of Huntington, W.VA. His aged widow and one daughter, Mrs. Julia Gammie of Terre Haute, Ind. survive him. Funeral was held Tuesday morning and burial was made in Mount Cemetery.
