Anthony Good, aged 72, a well-known citizen of Rockingham County, died Friday morning at 5 o'clock at the Western State Hospital, after being ill but two days of pneumonia. He had been in exceptionally health up the day he was stricken and his death was a shock to his relatives and friends.
Mr. Good was a gallant Confederate soldier. He was a member of Chew's Battery. Rosser's Laurel Brigade, of Stuart's Horse Artillery. He was captured at Cedar Creek on October 9, 1864, and spent the following winter a prisoner at Point Lookout. He was exchanged shortly before Lee's surrender and was at home on a furlough when the war ended.
The funeral party will meet at the house near Harrisonburg this afternoon at 2 o'clock and the services will take place at 3 o'clock at Mount Pleasant Church. The services will be conducted by Rev. P. S. Thomas, assisted by Rev. C. E. Long. The internment will be in the Mount Pleasant cemetery.
