Funeral services for John D. Thayer, Civil War veteran, and former resident of Marion County, who died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Crilla Banks, of Danville, were held Thursday afternoon at the Ebenezer Church.

Mr. Thayer was ninety-one, and is survived by six children. He served with the 6th Indiana in the Civil War, and lived in Marion County nearly fifty years before moving to a farm near Cartersburg. The children who survive are Joshua and William Thayer of Indianapolis; Thomas Thayer and Mrs. Banks of Danville; Mrs. Mary Richardson of Roachdale, and Mrs. Susie Wertz of Middletown.
