Carl O. Baird, 89, of Sumiton, died Thursday, December 25, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton in Birmingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003, at New Horizon Memorial Chapel with burial in Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.
He was owner and operator of Carl O. Baird Drilling Company for 57 years. He was a member of Sumiton First Baptist Church and a deacon since 1955. He was also a former director of Compass Bank (1963-1986).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Baird; six brothers, Floyd Chaffin; George, Searcy, Cordis, Clyde and Marvin Baird and three sisters, Flora Hendon, Mae Baird and Arizona Myhand.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Campbell Baird; one son, Jim Baird of Sumiton; one sister, Stella Sherrell of Phoeniz, AZ; two grandsons, Christian Baird, of Arlington, TX. and Scott Baird and his wife Marla of Ardmore, OK and two great-grandsons, Riley and Campbell Baird of Ardmore, OK.
