First settled in Arcadia shortly after the Civil War beginning his business as a contractor and a builder.
Later moved to Ironton living on Lake Dr and opening up a hardware store abt 1878 by enlarging his carpenter shop.
He included a furniture store and a funeral business shortly after and remained in business for over 40 years. He sold the undertaking business in 1923 to Bond and White but kept the store open.
One brother Marion was killed at Helena Ark during the Civil War and brother Reuben became the first mayor of Fredericktown Mo.
Cause of death was pneumonia. He had been a resident of Arcadia Valley for more than 60 years.
