The son of Daniel & Hannah (Silks) Liddick, in 1860 he was a boatman and farm laborer living with his parents in Buffalo Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 6" tall and had dark hair and dark eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted 20 Sept 1861 in CO C. 77th PA Volunteer Infantry as a private. He was promoted to full Corporal on December 11, 1863. He mustered out December 6, 1865 at Victoria, Texas.

He married Frances Permelia Anderson abt Feb. 1866 in Perry Co., PA. He was elected County Auditor of Perry Co., an office he held for two years. By 1880, George had moved his family to Red Oak, Montgomery Co., Iowa where Frances died Mar 1887. He then married Eliza Jane McCauley Egge August 25, 1887, in Red Oak.

George moved his family to Kansas (child born 1893) and then to Pawnee Co., Oklahoma (child born 1898). By 1910, George had moved his family back to Red Oak where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Christian Church and Commander of the local Garfield post of the GAR.
