James was the third of eight children born to Marshall Monroe and Nancy Marie 'Nannie' (Moose) Plummer. He married Frances Bunn

Mr. James Jackson Plummer 87 of Charlotte, died Friday, January 22, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 26, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Marks and Rev. Albert Leath officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class of Mr. Plummer and his fellow army veterans of the 670th. Entombment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church one hour pior to the service on Tuesday.

Born July 6, 1911 in Mooresville, Mr. Plummer had been a resident of Charlotte for 73 years. He retired from design engineering with Duke Power after 45 1/2 years of service. A WWII veteran, Mr. Plummer served in the South Pacific in the 670th Topographical Army Engineers. He was a charter member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

Mr. Plummer is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Mrs. Francis Bunn Plummer of the home; sisters, Ethelyn P. Fite of Huntersville, NC, Margaret P. Wheeler of Landrum, SC, and Sarah P. Fowler of Long Beach, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry B. Plummer, E. Louis Plummer and W.R. (Bill) Plummer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Debt Retirement Fund of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 4855 Albermarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28205.
