Jane Linnett was born in County Tyrone, Ireland on September 20, 1812 It was there she married Patrick Campbell on November 20, 1831. In 1832, shortly after their marriage, Patrick and Jane emigrated to the United States, settled on a farm in Btoken Straw, Warren, Pennsylvania and began raising a family. They made the decision in 1845 to relocate their family, which now included five children, and became some of the early settlers in Rural Rock Island County, Illinois (now Coal Valley, Illinois). Their two youngest children were born on the family farm in Coal Valley.
Following his retirement from farming, Patrick and Jane continued to live on their homestead and their daughter and son-in-law farmed the land. The Campbells continued to be active and well respected members of the community and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 1881 surrounded by family and friends.
