Jens D. Nielsen was born in Sondrup Hundsland Denmark, to Jorgan Nielsen and Birthe Jorgansdatter. Jens married Bodil Maria Andersen in 1884. Five children were born of this union, Hans, Jorgan(George), Alberta, Niels and Andreas. Bodil died in 1895. Jens then married Magdaline (Magda) Pedersen in 1905. To this union 2 daughters were born, Bodil and Marie.
Jens arrived in the U S on 3 Febr. 1910 aboard the ship "Ivernia" Jens and his family settled in Council Bluffs Iowa where one daughter Marie was born. They came to Ord in 1914 and he lived there the rest of his life.
In 1915 after trying farm work he decided to open a small cafe. It was located north of Auble corner. The cafe prospered for two years. He then bought a larger restaurant north of the Ord Hotel,with living quarters on the second floor. They had a good business, serving the many Danish people in Ord. They served many homemade pies. Jens later ran a concession stand. Selling his wares at sale barns, farm sales and barn dances. Jens was active until his death on 1 Apr. 1928. While running his restaurant and concession he won a host of friends. Many called him "Popcorn Johnny"
