YOUTH HAS FATAL STROKE
After being stricken on Highway 11 Sunday afternoon, Edard Lafayette Holley, 19-year old son of Mrs. Lettie Holley and the late W. A. Holley, died at the Poplarville Hospital Monday night at 10:50 p.m. of inflammation of the brain.
Young Holley was enroute to Purvis Sunday afternoon where he was carrying his brother, William, to meet an uncle who was to carry William back to his CCC camp near New Augusta. In the car with you Holley at the time were his mother, two sisters, Mrs. R. S. Crocker and Miss Caroline Holley, William, his brother, Mrs. Crocker's children and two other children, Lavon and B. L. Keith.
Near Talawah creek young Holley got out of the car to remove a fan belt that had been giving trouble and upon getting back into the car complained of his head hurting and pains in his arms. They drove the car up to Simmons Store and Filling Station near Talawah and after stopping the car Mrs. Croker noticed that Edard's face was pale as if he were about to faint.
Efforts were made to revive him and he was placed in the car of Lee Rutledge and rushed to the Poplarville Hospital where he died without regaining consciousness.
Young Holley was known as a worthwhile young man and devoted to the welfare of his mother and family. At one time he was a member of a CCC camp, but has been at home for some time. He was born at Purvis Nov. 10, 1921.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lettie Holley; three sisters, Mrs. Zeno T. Littleton, Mrs. Raymond S. Crocker, and Miss Carolina Holley; and one brother, William Holley.
Funeral services were conducted at the Purvis cemetery Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. V. C. Walker, Tylertown, pastor of the Spring Hill Baptist Church of which young Holley was a member.
Pall bearers were C. E. Fewell, Eugene Smith, James Smith, Claude Slade, Ruford Strahan and Vernon Strahan.
Arrangements in charge of McDonald Funeral Home.
