Mrs. Agnes W. Tanner, age 83, of Oglethorpe, former long time resident of Americus, died on Saturday, July 9, 1994 at The Oaks Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held at 3 pm on Thursday, July 14, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, with Rev. Dale McConnell officiating. Interment followed in SUNSET MEMORIAL GARDENS, in Americus. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Tanner, a native of Randolph County was born October 22, 1910, a daughter of the late Charles Wilburn Walker and Mary Edwards Walker. She was the wife of the late James Terrell Tanner who preceded her in death on August 7, 1977.

Survivors include one daughter, Joy Tanner McElroy of Cuba, Alabama; one son, James R. "Jim" Tanner of Oglethorpe; six sisters, Gladys Hooks of Cuthbert, Myrtice Morgan of Jacksonville, Florida; Cleon Prince of Aylett, Virginia; Martha Poole, Frances Crook and Clarice Manry, all of Americus; two brothers, Grady Walker of Cuthbert and Charles Wilburn Walker of Pelham; seven grandsons, Glenn McElroy, Jay McElroy, Sean McElroy, Tommy TGanner, Mark Tanner, Dennis Tanner and Eric Tanner; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
