Joseph Coumerilh, 79, pioneer cattle man and well-known in this vicinity, died in Salt Lake City Saturday night. Mr. Coumerilh had been engaged in the cattle business in Blackfoot and hereabouts for the past 26 years but for the past year had been in poor health and a few months ago was taken to a sanitarium. His daughters, Mrs. Philo Darnell of Blackfoot and Mrs. J. B. Woods of Provo, Utah, were at his bedside.
Mr. Coumerilh was a native ofIssor, Basses-Pyrénées, Aquitaine, France on 20 April 1850. He came to San Francisco as a boy of 18 and after some years there moved to Spring Valley, Nevada, where he married Miss Emma Sedgewick, about 55 years ago. Besides his widow he is survived by four children, Mrs. J. B. Woods of Provo, Utah; John H., Mrs. Philo Darnell and Berton J., all of Blackfoot and a number of grandchildren.
The funeral was to be held in Blackfoot.

Suggested edit: There was an error in his obituary about his birthplace. His birth is register at Issor, Basses-Pyrénées, Aquitaine, France on 20 April 1850. He was the son of Jean Pierre Coumerilh of Lescun and Anne Ichante of Aydius. No where near Alsace, as was noted in his obituaries.
