Sandyvale Cemetery is situated in a flood plain area along the Stoneycreek River. The major floods in Johnstown (1889, 1936 and 1977) have taken their toll on the cemetery and swept away many of the headstones. Today Sandyvale is m aintained as a park. The headstones that were salvaged were placed in three groupings of approximately 150 stones total. There are also a few taller monuments standing throughoutthe cemetery. Unfortunately, the grave photographer was not able to find the stone for William Worthington within the groupings of monuments.
