From the 1830-1877 History of Calhoun County (about Marengo Township): "Abraham Giltner came from Northampton county, Pennsylvania, in 1845, and settled forty acres where he now lives, it being the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter section 16. Brought his wife and six children with him, and made the first improvements on the place. Three of his children are now living."
From the Marshall Statesman, Marshall, MI, 18 May 1888, p. 4: "Abraham Giltner was buried from the Evangelical church Monday p. m., Rev. Nehmans officiating. Mr. Giltner was 81 years of age, an old settler and a well known and highly respected citizen."
