Samuel Marshal Drake, 88 of Hamilton died at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on Monday March 3, 1986 after an extended illness.

Services were held in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 5, with the Rev. Tim Moody officiating. Burial followed in the Shive Cemetery.

Mr. Drake was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 19, 1897 the son of Samuel Palmer Drake and Nellie Putnam Drake. He lived in Hamilton Co. most of his life.

He was married to the former Mary Ann Bloodworth on June 24, 1918 in Lampasas, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 4, 1981. He was a pastor and evangelist in the Hamilton area for a number of years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Helen Drake Pax, a son, Sam Allen Drake Sr. Two brothers, Owen and Lawrence Drake. Two sisters, Susie McAnelly and Berta Green. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Alton Drake, Sam Drake, Jr., Tony Bone, Garnett Damewood, Palmer Drake and Darwin Stanford. Honorary pallbearers were Mike and Ronnie Bone.
