HEBER CURTIS KEMPTON

Heber Curtis Kempton was born at Eden, Arizona on April 20, 1890, the son of Alvin Bradford Kempton and Sarah Jane Curtis.

He married Stella Hatch in 1915, and they were the parents of nine children: Opal, Alvin, Lavona, Cleola, Newell, Farrell, Jerry, Grace and Harold Cecil.

He was ordained Bishop of the Eden Ward on November 9, 1921 and was released on May 24, 1923, when he moved to Mesa, and later, to Phoenix. In 1928, he moved back to Eden where he served as counselor in the bishopric to Tommy Fuller and was ordained Bishop again on November 23, 1933. He was released May 22, 1938. He believed in being on time to his priesthood and church meetings. He always started his meetings on time and did not believe in waiting for the late members.

In 1950, Heber sold the farm in Eden and moved to Valley Farms, Arizona, where he died of a heart attack on March 10, 1957.
