Obituary from Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) - 11 February 1998:
TETONIA - Vernon Gregory Christoffersen, 87, of Tetonia, died February 10, 1998, at Portneuf Valley Hospital and Rehab Center in Pocatello.

He was born April 8, 1910, in Cove, Utah, to John Christian and Ava Sovonia Gregory Christoffersen. He grew up in the Teton Valley, attended schools there, and graduated with high honors from Teton High School. While in high school, he played on the basketball team and served as studentbody president.

He married Zella Rose Moss and their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. On August 1, 1945, he married Etta Lee Wanlass in Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She also preceded him in death.

For many years, he farmed in the Teton Basin, and was Teton County Road Supervisor for 42 years. He served on the Cache-Clawson Cemetery Board; and on the Board of Directors of the Falls River Rural Electric Coop, as well as president for two terms.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various positions, including bishop and as bishop's counselor in the Cache Ward. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and driving around the country.

Survivors include his daughter, Verla Gene (husband, John) Furniss of Rigby; two sisters, Ina Clay and Fern Wallace, both of Chowchilla, Calif.; a brother, Grant Christoffersen of West Jordan, Utah; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Tetonia 2nd LDS Ward with David Breckenridge officiating. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
