V.Z. Jenkins – 1964
Tioga – Funeral Services were held at 2 pm Monday in the First Baptist Church here for V.Z. Jenkins, 68, a retired farmer and Ethel School board member, who died Saturday night in McKinney Veterans Hospital after a short illness. Rev. Bob Hinson, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Collinsville Cemetery, directed by Beck Funeral Home, Pilot Point. Mr. Jenkins moved to Tioga five years ago from his farm in the Ethel community. He was born Jan. 13, 1896 in Boone County, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Israel Jenkins. He came to Texas as a child with his parents. On Sept. 13, 1919, he married Miss Othy Roberts in Sherman. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of World War I. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Wayne Jenkins of Wichita Falls, Wendell Jenkins of Duncanville, and Leon Jenkins of Austin; a daughter, Mrs. L.E. Vermillion of Arlington; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Marvin Jenkins of Sherman and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Baughman of Tioga and Mrs. Vera Davis of Gunter; two half-sisters, Mrs. Cora Hall and Mrs. Lillie Gurley, both of Howe.
