Marguerite Sowash, 85, of Court Street, Elizabeth, died Thursday at her residence follwing an extended illness. She was born in Saltsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late William Henry and Anne Elizabeth Hieghberger Sowash. She was a missionary in India from 1929-1949 with the Presbyterian Church. She was a practical nurse and did private nursing in the New York City area until the age of 62. She was a membr of the Wirt County Senior Citizens. She is survived by three sisters, Kathryn Hamilton of Sharpsville, Pa., Amanda Marie Peters of Zephyrhill, Fla., and Mary Rowe of Zelienople, Pa.; a nephew, Jack Sowash and his wife, Reo Sowash, and one sister, Eleanor Jackson, all of Lincoln, Mo., with whom she spent her last months. She was preceded in death by three brothers. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at Matheny Funeral Home with the Rev. Ezra Higgins officiating. Burial was in the Fought Cemetery, Wirt County.
