Son of Amos Boorn and DeLaney (Dailey) Boorn

"A life of usefulness, extending beyond four-score years, triumphantly ended in Cobleskill, Wednesday evening with the passing of Nathan Boorn, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. K. Robbins, on East Main street. He had been ill since last August, suffering from kidney trouble, with complications incident to old age. With Mrs. Boorn, he went to the home of his daughter in the early fall and has gradually been failing since. He was born in Decatur, but most of his life was passed at East Worcester, where he followed the occupation of a blacksmith. He was married to Miss Catherine Brazee March 9, 1859, their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary having just been passed. In early life he became a Christian, and none who knew him ever doubted the reality of the religion he professed. It permeated his entire being and was the controlling influence in his life. He was a member of the Methodist church and gave liberally of his time and means to promote the interests of his Master's kingdom. In the home he was a devoted husband and father, in the community a wise counselor and friend. He is survived by his widow; three children, Clarence M. of Seward, Mrs. A. K. Robbins of Cobleskill and Friend W. Boorn of North Adams, Mass., two grandchildren, Carl Boorn of Seward, and Olive Robbins of Cobleskill; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Lowell and Mrs. Levi Tice of Schenevus; two brothers, Stephen and Charles of Decatur. The late Dr. D. W. Boorn of Schenevus was a brother. A prayer service was held at the Robbins home at 8:30 Saturday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Robert Boyce, and the remains were taken on the 9.14 train to East Worcester where funeral services were held at 2 P.M., at the Methodist church, Rev. Robert Boyce officiating. Interment at East Worcester." [The Worcester Times (Worcester, NY), March 18, 1914, pg. 8, col. 3]
