Margaret was the oldest of 11 children in the family of Henry B. and Sarah Bower Gamler. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lebanon. For many decades, she lived with her sister, Anna Gamler Reeder Stein, who ran a grocery store on North 11th Street in Lebanon. Surviving siblings included: Mrs. Ida Johnson and Mrs. Anna Stein, both of Lebanon; Mrs. Kathryn Fernsler, Easton; Obie [Obediah], Neffsville; and Frank H., Heilmandale.
