Mr. Barker died Wednesday morning, July 24th, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born June 17, 1896 in Johnson County, Texas, and came to Donley County as a small boy. Except for a few years in Armstrong County, he farmed in Donley County all his life. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Clarendon.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Barker of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Doyce Graham, and Mrs. Bill Mooring of Clarendon, Mrs. Dick Noble of Lubbock, Mrs. D.W. Tomlinson of Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. James M. Clark of Lubbock, and Mrs. Rex Hopkins of Odessa; two sons, Don Barker of Amarillo, Earl Barker of Groom; two sisters, Mrs. Dewey Goodman of Clarendon, Mrs. Selma Vaughn of Lubbock; three brothers, Odell and Goble Barker of Clarendon, Clyde Barker of Turlock, Calif.; five step-daughters, Mrs. Elmer Vines of Clarendon, Mrs. Claude Moore of Tulia, Mrs. W.A. Bentley of Dozier, Mrs. Arlie D. Bentley of Anadarko, Okla.; three step-sons, Sgt. Leroy Todd of Colorado Springs, Colo., Thomas Todd of Matador, Melvin Barker of McLean; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers were grandsons, Doyce Graham, Jr., Mike Graham, Lynn Barker, David Mooring, Don Mooring, and Douglas Tomlinson.
