Graveside services for Jim Broome, 47, of Shallowater will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow. A Celebration of life will follow at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shallowater with the Rev. Mitch Wilson officiating.

Mr. Broome died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center.

Jim was born June 11, 1957 in Albuquerque, N.M. to James and Phyllis Broome. He graduated from Bernalillo High School, Bernalillo, N.M. He attended NMSU and South Plains Colleges. Jim married Jenny Austin June 21, 1980 in Mountain Grove, Mo. He was employed by CBC, Inc. as a machinist and a night supervisor and then by Sun Star Electric, where he was an engineer and in sales. Jim was an avid sportsman and he especially loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed some free time for target shooting. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shallowater.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny; a son, James Broome of Portales, N.M.; a daughter, Sara Broome of Bolivar, Mo.; his parents, James and Phyllis Broome of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Cynthia Tenorio and husband Dennis of Albuquerque; a brother, Robert Charles Broome of Portland, Ore.; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Dixie Austin of Mountain Grove, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Becky Moore and husband Herb of Spokane, Mo., and Billie Miller and husband Scott of Norwood, Mo.; and eight nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 1004 8th Street, Shallowater, Texas 79363.
