Jennie worked and lived in the Ackerman household. During this time, Jennie became pregnant and her son Francis was born. It appears that the father of her child was Jeremiah Ackerman who went off to fight in World War I on July 20th, 1918. It is unclear whether Jeremiah & Jennie ever married since Francis was initially listed in census records with the surname Milnes. Ten years later he and his mother both use the surname Ackerman, but unfortunately Jeremiah died of bronchial pneumonia while stationed overseas on October 13, 1918.

I was surprised and saddened to see that Francis had died so young. At the same time, I had been curious as to why this mysterious Francis J. Ackerman was listed on the Milnes family burial record at Cedar Lawn Cemetery and was glad I was able to solve the mystery. In 1937 Francis was moved to Section 8, Lot 22-A.

Jennie died in Paterson General Hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage on Christmas Day 1940. She was buried with her son. Jeremiah is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
