From Holland St. John - "Emaline was the daughter of Wilson and Elizabeth (Downen) Jones and was born around 1836 in Black Township, Posey County, Indiana. Her parents were early settlers in southwestern Indiana when it was still a territory. Her grandfather, the Reverend Samuel Jones, was the first minister to preach in what is now present Posey County. Emaline came from a large family. On October 21, 1855 Emaline married Samuel Leroy Dixon. Samuel was born in about 1835 and died in 1868. By 1860 Samuel had established a farm in Marrs Township, north of the town of Mount Vernon, was 24 years of age, and had added two children to the family: Minerva J.(age 4) and Charles (age 2). Nearby several other farms were being developed by Dixons, most likely Emaline's in-laws. However, by 1870 Emaline had moved back to Black Township and the U S Census lists her as head of the household. It would appear she was living on a farm next to her brother Levitas Jones. Living with Emaline at this time were her children: Minerva J.(13), Elva A. 9), Leroy (7), Alonzo L. (7) and Emma (4). Charles is not mentioned so it would appear he had died sometime in the 1860s. Living with them was a 24 year old, Mat Maguire. Emaline married a second time. Benjamin Lankford (name later changed to Langford) is listed as having married her on September 29, 1874 in White County, Illinois. Benjamin was born in Kentucky around 1831. By 1880 Emaline and Benjamin were farming in Carmi Township, White County, Illinois with three of her children: Elvie, Alonzo and Leroy living at home. Farming nearby was Emaline's brother Samuel R. Jones and his family. It has not been verified, but both Emaline and Benjamin are assumed to be interred in the Enfield Cemetery located in White County, Illinois, but their graves have not been located."
