WILSON ADAMS DEAD
Death Came Last Night at Nine O'clock.

Wilson Adams, one of Monroe county's most honored citizens, died last night at nine o'clock.

While the announcement will not come as a surprise, it will be a shock to this community, where Mr. Adams lived and was loved by all who knew him. For nine months he suffered intense pain as the result of a complication of diseases. To all it was evident that death was only a question of a short time. Yet the iron will and firm resolve to get well seemed to give him a hold upon life that was wonderful.

Wilson Adams was a man that the community will miss. He was a man of force, was loyal to his friends, and was faithful in the discharge of public and private duties. He was prominent in the Grand Army of the Republic, the Knights of Pythias and the Methodist church. He had served the people in a number of places of public trust, the last ones being trustee of Bloomington township, and twice sheriff of Monroe county. While he was an ardent Republican in politics he always had the respect of his political opponents. "Old Trusty" was a nickname given him years ago and such was the confidence that the people had in him they loved to call him by that name.

He was oldest living active member of Franklin lodge No. 22, Knights of Pythias. The members regarded him very much as children regard a father. His presence in the lodge room was always an inspiration and his brothers felt that he was the embodiment of their motto, Friendship, Charity and Benevolence.

Wilson Adams was a good citizen in time of peace and a brave soldier in time of war. In shadow or sunshine he could always be relied upon. While the flesh will soon be hid from mortal sight the memory of his worth and works will live.

The funeral will take place at the family residence tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. To his friend, Captain William J. Allen, Mr. Adams, last week, made known his wishes concerning the arrangements for his funeral. He asked that the services be in charge of Dr. J. H. Doddridge and the Rev. J. E. Brant, and that the pallbearers be three from the Grand Army of the Republic and three from the Knights of Pythias.
