Whitfield Stowers
Hamlin - A retired farmer, Whitfield Stowers, 74, of Alkol, Lincoln County, died yesterday in a Huntington Hospital after a short illness.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; two sons, Melvin of Alkol and Macel of Akron; one daughter, Miss Janisee at home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Pearl Egnor and Mrs. Iva Egnor of Alkol; five brothers, Spurge and Hillard of Alkol, Dewey of Yawkey, Scott of Griffithsville and Harold of Clothier; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Dingess and 14 step-grandchildren.
Services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Sand Fork Baptist Church by the Revs. Freddy Saunders and Claude Hinkle. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery under the direction of Koontz Funeral Home here.
The body is at the residence of Spurge Stowers
