Evalyn Harmon, 80, of Columbia died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Nilson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Foley officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harmon was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Hinton to Shellie Caldwell and Mabel Dean Hoffman Caldwell.

On July 5, 1937, she married Tharon Harmon in Fulton, and he preceded her in death.

She worked for the University of Missouri as a secretary before her retirement.

She was a member of Ashland Baptist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary, both in Ashland.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Jean Stand and Betty Jo Fountain, both of Columbia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
