James R. Porter, 86, of rural Wyoming died at 2:52 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital in Kewanee.

Born Dec. 29, 1915, in Stark County to John H. and Ethel Buskirk Porter, he married Grace A. Ryan on April 3, 1935, in Wyoming. She also died April 29, 2002, in Kewanee.

Surviving are one brother, John "Bob" (and Norma) of Wyoming; and one sister, Doris Davis of Kewanee.

He was a welder and farmer in the Wyoming area.

He had served as a Toulon Township trustee for 31 years.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Wyoming, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Robert Rayson will officiate. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery. Wyoming Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Wyoming Ambulance Service.
